Ajinkiya Rahane scores an amazing century in the Ranji Trophy 2022

Ajinkya Rahane, playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy 2022 at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ground ‘A’ in Motera, smashed a century against Saurashtra.

As a result of his poor performance with the bat for a long time, Ajinkya Rahane’s place in the Indian Test team has been under intense scrutiny. The 33-year-old had scored just 479 runs in 23 innings in 2021, with an average of 20.82, and two 50+ runs.

Also, he was dropped from the Test vice-captaincy ahead of India’s tour of South Africa in 2021-22, and Rohit Sharma was given the role.

Rahane retained his spot in the Indian playing XI for the three-match Test series against South Africa, however, with the full support of the team management. Despite his poor performance, Rahane managed just 136 runs in the three-match Test series against South Africa at an average of 22.66.

According to many, the South Africa tour was Ajinkya Rahane’s last chance to be a part of India’s Test setup.

Regarding Ajinkya Rahane’s incredible century against Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy 2022, he scored 100 runs off 211 deliveries. His innings included 14 fours and two sixes.

In the crucial phase of the match, Rahane scored a century after Mumbai lost 3 wickets quickly after winning the toss and batting first. Ajinkya Rahane and SN Khan added over 190 runs to the score together.

Recently he was bought by team Kolkata Knight Riders for 1 crore in IPL auction last week.
