The Czech Republic will close Russian consulates

Apart from humanitarian instances, the Czech Republic would close Russian consulates and stop giving visas to Russians, according to Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

According to Fiala, the country, which is a NATO and European Union member, will close two Russian consulates in Brno and Karlovy Vary, as well as its consulates in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg in Russia.

He added that the administration would consult with its ambassadors to Russia and Belarus.

The steps came after Russian military invaded Ukraine on Thursday, marking the largest single-state offensive in Europe since World War II.
