IND V/S SL: no audiences allowed during Virat Kohli’s 100th test series at stadium

The BCCI will not allow spectators for the first Test between India and Sri Lanka starting March 4, which is legendary Virat Kohli’s landmark 100th Test, a Punjab Cricket Association official announced.
In addition, the decision stems from the COVID-19 cases in and around Mohali, as well as the fact that most of the Indian players will be joining their respective IPL squads in a bubble-to-bubble transfer after the end of the second Test.
In accordance with the BCCI guidelines, we will not allow general spectators except for those on duty for the Test match,” senior PCA treasurer RP Singla told PTI on Saturday.
“There are still fresh cases of COVID in and around Mohali, so it is better we follow all safety protocols. Obviously, the fans miss out because it is only the third international match at Mohali in almost three years,” Singla said.
The PCA is putting up billboards throughout the stadium to celebrate Kohli’s momentous achievement.
“We will put up large billboards, and our PCA Apex Council has also decided to felicitate Virat. We will either do it at the start or during the game, depending on BCCI instructions.”
