Google, MeitY identify 100 Indian startups to build quality apps
Google and MeitY will train 100 startups over the course of six months using a customised curriculum designed to help them develop high-quality apps for a global market.
MeitY and Google announced a cohort of 100 Indian early-to-mid-stage startups as part of the Appscale Academy to assist in the development of high-quality global apps and games for India’s next generation of innovators. The Appscale Academy identifies and supports promising Indian startups, assisting them in becoming successful global enterprises. Following an in-depth selection process that considered their creative ideas and innovation, product quality, product scalability, and talent diversity, a hundred startups were chosen from over 400 applications.
Time spent by users outside India on apps and games created by Indian companies on Google Play increased by 150% in 2021 compared to 2019, demonstrating the potential and opportunity that Indian startups and developers now have to drive app and game innovations for the rest of the world. MeitY Startup Hub, an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and Google today announced a cohort of 100 Indian early to mid-stage startups that will assist in the development of high-quality global apps and games as part of the Appscale Academy.
The Appscale Academy is a growth and development program by MeitY Startup Hub and Google. It aims to identify, and support promising Indian startups and help them grow into successful global businesses. 100 startups were chosen from over 400 applications following an in-depth selection process. Some of the startups are solving for some of India’s daily, critical, and unique needs through creative homegrown solutions.
