Elon Musk deletes controversial tweet with No Apology
Twitter has always been a platform for people who like controversy and are always interested in what is happening in other people’s lives. from a common man to a celebrity both are active on Twitter. One such famous figure, the CEO of Tesla Elon Musk has been in the news for his Tweets which are sometimes hurting people. Recently, Elon Musk posted a meme of a photo of Hitler, with “Stop comparing me to Justin Trudeau” written above his head and “I had a budget” below it. He tweeted this when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau imposeed restrictions on truck drivers. Due to which truck Drivers including some citizens in Canada protested against it. Considering this Justin Trudeau declares Emergency.
Elon makes No Apology
After heavy criticism, Musk deleted the tweet with no explanation or apology. Most pushback has, understandably, focused on Musk’s crass, joking use of Hitler’s image. This post is demeaning and hurtful to people. They atleast deserves a sorry from Musk. This tweet has also focused upon the fact that A populist movement by a billionaire that hurts someone’s feeling is not a populist movement. As the quote says, coin has two sides Elon”s tweet also had more than 35,000 likes, more than 9,000 retweets and many positive responses. We should also look at the other side of it where some people are so happy reading it and responding like ” my next car is tesla”
Musk has never embraced extremist rhetoric like this. But it’s nonetheless part and parcel of a type of populism that serves his interests.
