Mark Wood, the pacer for the Lucknow Super Giants, has been ruled out of the IPL in 2022
With an elbow injury, England bowler Mark Wood has been ruled out of the 2019 IPL. Wood will not play for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL commencing March 26 after suffering a right elbow injury during the first Test against the West Indies last week, according to Espncricinfo.
At the IPL auction last month, the Super Giants paid Rs 7.5 crore for Wood.
From their house, Mark Wood and his family were watching the auction. While speaking to The Guardian, he recalls this meme when Mark’s name was called, he said he was cleaning the dishes in the kitchen while his wife, Sarah, had her eyes riveted to the television.

Mark Wood said: “As soon as the final amount was confirmed Sarah asked what it was in pounds – I might have to freeze all our accounts so it doesn’t disappear. But we’re delighted. It’s a weird experience. It feels like a computer game – almost not real, like transfers on Football Manager – but it’s also very real when you get signed.”
Making his 'Mark' already, eh? 😅
Loving @MAWood33's excitement on joining the Super Giants. We can't wait to have him with us. 🤩🙌#TATAIPLAuction #IPLAuction #LucknowSuperGiants pic.twitter.com/OPG7vQUzTa

KL Rahul will captain the Super Giants, who will be mentored by Andy Flower.
Because the Lucknow Super Giants have little overseas speed alternatives in their team, Wood’s absence is likely to have a significant influence on their plans during the season. Holder and Stoinis will be expected to take on greater responsibility in the powerplay and death overs for the franchise in the absence of England’s fast bowler.
On March 28, the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants will play Gujarat Titans for the first time in the IPL 2022 season at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. On March 31, they will play reigning champions Chennai Super Kings in their next game.
