Donald Tusk has criticized Britain’s response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis
Donald Tusk has criticized Britain’s response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis. Donald Tusk has slammed the UK government’s response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis, claiming that the Home Office continues to insist that people apply for visas in order to be granted asylum.
The former European Council president, who oversaw Brexit negotiations, spoke out as most of Europe allowed Ukrainians to enter without documentation.
What a world it has become, when Donald Tusk speaks up for the people of UK more loudly than ANY British MP but #CarolineLucas.

“Solidarity in action,” he said. The United Kingdom has granted 50 visas to Ukrainian refugees, while Poland has welcomed 1.2 million Ukrainians in two weeks. ‘We are as generous as we possibly can be, very, very generous,’ Boris Johnson says.
According to the Independent, the Polish politician, who now leads the center-right European People’s Party, ended with a “facepalm” emoji to express his frustration.
Tusk’s remarks follow French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin’s claim that the UK government’s response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis demonstrates a “lack of humanity.”
The UK government initially stated that Ukrainians would be able to enter the country as refugees only if they had close family ties to the country, which excluded relatives such as brothers and sisters, and only by applying for a visa.
Later, the government expanded the visa application scheme to include more extended family connections and stated that Ukrainians could come if they found UK sponsors.
However, applying for a visa proved difficult, as hundreds of people were reportedly stranded in Calais due to the lack of a visa centre, which the Conservatives refused to establish in the French port.
