Supreme Court Judge of USA Justice Clarence Thomas admitted in hospital

The court spokesman said that Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas was admitted to the hospital on Friday due to an illness.  A spokesman told CBS News on Sunday that Thomas did not have COVID-19.

Thomas was treated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, with antiretroviral drugs, and “his symptoms are getting better,” the court said, adding that the 73-year-old judge “is expected to be released from hospital in a day or two.” The court did not elaborate on the nature of the infection.

“Justice Thomas will participate in the consideration and discussion of any cases for which he is not present on the basis of the briefs, transcripts, and audio of the oral arguments,” the statement said.

The Supreme Court scheduled to hear arguments in several cases on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. This week also marked the beginning of the hearing of the confirmation of President Biden’s appointment to the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson, who is going to replace retired Judge Stephen Breyer if confirmed by the Senate.
