Will Elon Musk reinstate Donald Trump’s twitter account? Trump supporters are asking Elon to do so
Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., is leading the charge for Elon Musk to reinstate former President Donald Trump on Twitter, following the Tesla CEO’s purchase of a 9.2% stake in the social media behemoth.
She tweeted on Monday, “Now that @ElonMusk is Twitter’s largest shareholder, it’s time to lift the political censorship.” “Oh, and TRUMP MUST RETURN!”
According to Reuters, Musk recently criticised Twitter and its restrictions, claiming that the firm is hurting democracy by not sticking to free speech ideals.
Musk has almost 80 million Twitter followers and has had a Twitter account since June 2009.
Conservatives are now joining Boebert in calling for Trump’s Twitter account to be reactivated. Following the disturbance at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, the account was permanently suspended, according to Insider.
“Now that @elonmusk is Twitter’s largest shareholder, he should demand a stop to political censorship, company-wide reform, and President Trump’s reinstatement,” Monica Crowley, Trump’s former assistant secretary of state for public affairs, tweeted.
California Republican House candidate Errol Webber tweeted: “Twitter’s largest shareholder is now @ElonMusk. Time to get this platform back to its former glory.
“First and foremost, President Trump must be reinstated!
“Second, everyone who has been prohibited should be given a second chance.
“Step three: eliminate all political and other forms of censorship.”
“Will the new majority shareholder return freedom of speech to Twitter?” tweeted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. It will need courage because the government is significantly investing in a certain industry, and dangers are unavoidable. However, restoring freedom of speech will empower us all to combat them.”
In an effort to rival Twitter, the former president has started his own social media platform, Truth Social. According to Politico, he had only posted once on Truth Social as of Monday.
