Michelle Obama’s brother sue their children’s school as they faces racism
Former first lady Michelle Obama’s brother and sister-in-law are suing their children’s former Milwaukee school over alleged racial bias.
Craig Robinson alleged that during the pandemic when online classes were going on their children were used as examples of the racial stereotypes that have been set up throughout the century. He added that they raised the issues to the school, but it “summarily dismissed our young children, retaliating against them because of the issues we brought up.”
Furthermore, the couple alleges in the suit that USM “acted toward its model students of color with none of the respect, trust, honesty, fairness or even the basic kindness, mandated by the Common Trust.”
Craig and Kelly Robinson said they also recalled a time when their students were denied the chance to test out of a math class, but only white students were able to take the exam, according to the suit.
The Hill has reached out to the University School of Milwaukee for comment. Robinson’s two young sons now attend a different school.
