Kia gears up to launch the EV6 in India, bookings open from May 26, 2022

Kia India has announced that it will enter the Indian EV market in the coming months with the launch of the EV6. The EV6 will be the first electric vehicle from the South Korean automaker to be launched in India, following its global debut in March 2021. The brand will only bring a limited number of units of the car, and bookings will begin on May 26, 2022, with the vehicle launching shortly after.

The EV6 will mark the beginning of Kia’s electric vehicle plans in India, which include the introduction of six all-electric vehicles by 2024. Kia will also reveal the new e-Niro and a mass-market electric SUV in addition to the EV6. Hyundai, on the other hand, will reveal the Ioniq 5, a facelift for the Kona Electric, and its own mass-market electric SUV.

The EV6 will be an exclusive offering from Kia India, and it will only be available in limited quantities through an import route in 2022. This means that no changes to the car’s features, design, appearance, or powertrain are expected in the US market.

The vehicle is based on Kia’s new dedicated EV platform E-GMP and is designed to provide customers with premium mobility solutions. According to Kia, it is the most technologically advanced Kia ever produced and is designed from the ground up to make electric mobility fun, convenient, and accessible. It has a class-leading real-world driving range, ultra-fast charging capabilities, and a large, high-tech interior.
