Musk enraged by Bill Gates’ idea of shorting Tesla
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, believes that his electric-vehicle and solar-power efforts are saving the world.
Bill Gates has taken a more conventional approach to philanthropy. His foundation, which he co-founded with his ex-wife, Melinda Gates, has spent billions of dollars to address global inequities.
Bill Gates is a leader of the technological revolution, and when it comes to climate change, it becomes a phenomenon.
According to a text chain that has been widely reported on and that Musk has since confirmed, Bill Gates was hoping Musk would consider collaborating by shorting Tesla, and the two were planning to meet.
Musk has generally taken a negative stance toward anyone who is shorting Tesla stock. He took the same approach with Gates, cancelling their planned meeting because Gates has a large short position in the electric-vehicle company, which he tweeted about.

“Sorry, but I can’t take your climate change philanthropy seriously when you have a massive short position against Tesla, the company doing the most to solve climate change,” Musk allegedly texted Gates, who has not confirmed the exchange.
