Twitter audio call leaked, employees worried over Elon Musk’s leadership

The conservative activist group Project Veritas leaked audio from Twitter’s companywide call about the company’s abrupt transition from a publicly traded company to a billionaire-owned, private entity on YouTube.

Throughout the 45 minute audio clip, various employees, including CEO Parag Agrawal, can be heard discussing the day’s events and their concerns about what may lie ahead for the company under Musk’s leadership.

Board Chairman Bret Taylor assisted in answering questions about the Board’s decision to accept Musk’s offer.

Taylor informed employees that the Board was required and compelled by Delaware corporate law to uphold the company’s fiduciary duties.

The CEO stated that the company would continue to operate normally and that he would be present to assist employees in making the greatest possible impact. Taylor pointed out a misunderstanding about the deployment of the Shareholder Rights Agreement and claimed that the media made a bigger deal out of Twitter’s actions than was necessary.

Employees were curious about what would happen to their jobs after the transaction was completed, as well as whether the company’s governance would change.

Taylor stated that when the sale was accepted, the stock reached a former high of around $70, delivering an absolute value to shareholders.
