People in a Chinese city tremble as a frightening blood-red sky appears

A peculiar event has aroused concern among Chinese citizens. The sky became a ferocious crimson red. Several films recorded in Zhoushan, a port city near Shanghai, show the sky turning vivid crimson and blood-red beneath heavy layers of fog. People wondered if there was a blazing fire nearby or if the apocalypse had finally arrived. Weibo and Sina, two Chinese social media platforms, started trending with photos of the red sky. A red sky was interpreted by many people as a terrible portent for the country’s management of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Meteorologists in Zhoushan, East China, attempted to determine what caused the frightening scarlet sky. They came up with an explanation, however, that was not particularly intriguing. It was either the end of the world or a blazing conflagration. The eerie lighting sky was caused by a rare combination of low-hanging clouds and light refraction from the nearby harbor.

Many people on social media have said they’ve never seen anything like it. They are astounded that the sky can become red. Another person stated that it has a blood red color, which does not appear to be appealing. Some people believe there will be an earthquake in seven days, and the sky turning red is unusual.

The meteorological bureau told Chinese publication the Global Times: “When weather conditions are good, more water in the atmosphere forms aerosols which refract and scatter the light of fishing boats and create the red sky seen by the public.” Wion stated that the state-owned media CCTV contacted a local fishing company, which confirmed that the light came from one of their boats and that refraction caused the dense fog to turn red. People from China continued to send films and images even though they had nothing to do with the devil or Satan.

Some online users claimed that this is not the first time the sky has gone red, claiming that it happened in 1770 as well. Scientists now assume that a high degree of aurora activity caused the event three millennia ago. Experts then looked into the strange red auroras that were spotted across East Asia in 1770 and discovered proof of them.
