Amir Khan gives up his boxing after a long 27 years
British boxer and former world boxing champion, Amir Khan has decided to give up boxing after a long illustrious career after 27 years. “It’s time to hang up my gloves. I feel blessed to have had such an amazing career that has spanned over 27 years,” the former world champion said after confirming his retirement.
Earlier in February, the former had suffered a loss to Brook. Amir glorified himself with world titles at super lightweight and faced pound for pound stars Saul Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford during a 40 fight career, featuring 34 wins and 6 defeats.
Khan first became a world champ in 2009 by defeating Andiy Kotelnik on points to secure the WBA super lightweight title, he also added the IBF title to his name later.
He said on Twitter: “It’s time to hang up my gloves. I feel blessed to have had such an amazing career that has spanned over 27 years. I want to say a heartfelt thanks and to the incredible teams I have worked with and to my family, friends and fans for the love and support they have shown me.”
