DK had the best time in IPL 2013, he managed to score more than 500 runs in the tournament, he was playing for the Mumbai Indians. With the two early wickets of Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar, Karthik along with captain Rohit Sharma took up the charge. DK smashed 84 runs and also made a 100 run partnership with Rohit. Mumbai Indians won the match by 44 runs.

India were going head to head against the West Indies, the Indian batters collapsed early and it was coming out as nail biter of a match. The DK innings saw an 87 ball 63 to take India to 189 at a low scoring pitch. The Windies could only manage a 169. Karthik was named Player of the Match for his under pressure knock.
