With the two early wickets of Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar, Karthik along with captain Rohit Sharma took up the charge. DK smashed 84 runs and also made a 100 run partnership with Rohit. Mumbai Indians won the match by 44 runs.

The DK innings saw an 87 ball 63 to take India to 189 at a low scoring pitch. The Windies could only manage a 169. Karthik was named Player of the Match for his under pressure knock.
