Alt News Co-Founder’s Mohammed Zubair Bail rejected sent to 1 day police remand

A Delhi court denied Mohammed Zubair’s request for bail. Mohammed Zubair is the co-founder of the fact-checking website Alt News. The Delhi Police was given one day of Zubair’s detention by the court as well.

The Delhi Police has submitted a request for one-day detention. The court allowed one day of police custody after carefully weighing all the evidence and the merits of the case. Police claim that after receiving notice under section 41 A of the Criminal Procedure Code, the accused Mohammad Zubair refused to cooperate with the investigation and was evasive. After a thorough hearing, the bail was rejected since the case did not have merit.

However, the court agreed to the defence attorney’s request to visit the accused Mohammad Zubair in police custody once daily for a half-hour in order to offer legal advice.

Mohammed Zubair was detained by the Delhi Police on Monday for instigating riots and hurting religious feelings. He was detained as a result of a complaint made by a man who tweeted about the Delhi Police. He was asked to appear in court today to testify in a 2020 case but was arrested right away after this case was filed.

“Today, Mohammed Zubair joined the investigation of a case that had been reported to the Special Cell police station. He was detained in the current instance once there was enough documentation to support an arrest. He is being brought before a magistrate to request additional police custody to pursue the investigation, according to the police.

According to the Indian Penal Code, Zubair has been charged with violating sections 153 (Wantonly offering provocation with purpose to incite disturbance) and 295A (Deliberate and malicious conduct intended to offend religious sentiments of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).
