The Department of Health Research (DHR) has initially launched a program of developing a network of 160 virology laboratories throughout the country in the 12th Five Year Plan.
Moreover, ICMR laboratories play a vital role in supporting public health and hospital development and care facilities in India. Also, it develops various diagnostic facilities for the detection of certain diseases.
