India vs England; Lees gives a head start

The fifth Test is underway and it has been an immense joy of watching the match from the game perspective, the Englishman have been set a target of 378 from the Men in Blue. Openers Zak Crawley and Alex Lees set up a solid opening wicket partnership and it was looking tough for India to get a breakthrough.

India were all out for 245 in their second innings on Day 4, Lees was batting at 56 and Zak Crawley on 46 gave England a solid century stand, just before Jasprit Bumrah struck at the time of Tea break. Lees scored a 44 ball fifty.

England’s highest successful run chase came in 2019 when they reached a 359 run target against Australia in the Ashes, courtesy Ben Stokes unbeaten hundred.

Indian wicket keeper, Rishabh Pant, smashed 146 in the first innings and made 57 in the second one, which makes him as the highest scorer by a wicket keeper in a Test match on English soil, Cheteshwar Pujara also smashed 66 in the second innings and made crucial contribution with Pant.

India are 2-1 up in the series and Day 5 will be crucial for the Rahul Dravid’s boys, if they want to seal a win.

England are currently 166/3 in 39 overs, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow are on the crease, need 212 to win.
