Virat Kohli faces injury, set to miss first ODI against England

Former Indian skip Virat Kohli has reportedly suffered a groin injury and is now in scrutiny condition for the first ODI against England which will be played on 12 July.

According to reports, the former Indian skipper suffered the injury during the third T20I against England on Sunday. As per the PTI, Kohli did not travel with the team to London in the team bus. Hence, the main reason must be a medical checkup to assess his condition.

“Virat has a groin strain during last game. It can’t be confirmed whether it happened during fielding or while batting. He will probably miss first ODI tomorrow at Oval as the groin needs rest,” PTI reported from a BCCI source.

India clinched the T20I series by 2 – 1 and gained positive impact with the view of crucial tournaments and series coming up. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was adjudged the Man of the Series for his amazing display of bowling.

The hard and inconsistent form of King Kohli continues, he made scores of 1 and 11 in the second and third matches of the T20I series. Some senior Indian cricketers were even suggesting to drop the player from the shortest format due to his series of low scores.

The ODI series against England will be very crucial for Virat Kohli, if he wants a spot in white ball cricket in future. However, due to his injury, the RCB player may have to miss out on this opportunity.
