OneTouchPoint disclose a recent data breach impacting more than 30 healthcare providers and health insurance companies
OneTouchPoint Corp. the mailing and printing service vendor disclosed a recent data breach impacting more than 30 healthcare providers and health insurance carriers. OneTouchPoint is headquartered in Hartland, Wisconsin, and is known for providing various kinds of services related to printing, marketing execution, and supply chain management.
According to the company, OneTouchPoint was targeted by a recent ransomware attack that compromised the personally identifiable information (PII), information permitting the identity of an individual, stored on its system. The company initiated an investigation after discovering encrypted files on some of its systems on April 28. The company found out that threat actors accessed the network in an unauthorized way on April 27, but it was not detectable which system was compromised.
However, OneTouchPoint later revealed after a thorough investigation that the system containing PII provided by the customers includes their names, address, birthdates, date of service, description of service, diagnosis codes, information for healthcare assessment, and membership ID were targeted by the attackers.
The company also said that they have initiated a diagnosis to find out the individual whose device was first attacked. OneTouch Point has listed 34 healthcare insurance carriers and healthcare service providers who were majorly impacted by this data breach. However, neither did the company disclose how many customers were impacted by this incident nor did they state the name of the ransomware that was used to extort information.
