Prince Charles accepts donation to his charitable foundation from Osama Bin Laden’s family members
Family of Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind behind attacks of 9/11, donated an amount of $1.19 million (1.21 million euro) to Prince Charles, the heir to the British Throne’s charitable trust.
The Saudi family members have never been alleged of any wrong doings. However the prince’s charity organizations saw alleged criminal wrong doings many times. Thus this revelation about receiving the donated money would lead to increase in scrutiny on the 73-year old prince’s organizations.
Charles advisers urged him not to accept the donation from family patriarch Bakr bin Laden and his brother Shafiq-half brothers of the terror leader – Osama.
However, the prince, Charles agreed to the donation offered to the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund (PWCF). This agreement took place in the year 2013, when the Prince met Bakr,76 at Clarence House in London the same year. He took the decision despite objections by his advisers, trust and his office.
The chairman of PWCF, Ian Cheshire asserted that the donation was agreed upon by five trustees at that time.
One of Charle’s charitable foundation was claimed over a cash-for-honours scandal involving a Saudi Businessman. The British Police launched an investigation on February to the foundation back then.
Following the allegation, the head of The Prince’s Foundation resigned after an internal investigation into the allegation.
