Sensex rises up to 57,844.27 points today while Nifty gains to 17,244.80!

The share market benchmark indicated extended gains after a gap-up start early today. The Sensex was up from 274.02 points to 57,844.27 early today and the Nifty advanced from 86.55 points to 17,244.80.

Consequently, the announcement of the macroeconomic data, quarterly earnings, RBI interest rate decision and foreign funds are the key factors which will lead the trading activities in the equity market this week.

Earlier, the Sensex gained over 400 points to 56,341 while the Nifty obtained 140 points at 16,782. About 1874 shares were advanced, 1140 shares decreased and around 141 shares were unchanged. The Sensex stocks were opened with Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank, Infosys, Titan and Bajaj Finserv as the top gainers, hiking up to 4 per cent. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap also went up to 0.4 per cent.

Last week, the Nifty on the Singapore Exchange traded at 99 points, higher at 16,782.50 while Asian shares also made gains. Rupee also gained 11 paise to 79.80 against US dollar respectively.
