Daria Dugina, daughter of ‘Putin’s Brain’, dies in a car explosion

The daughter of famous Russian ideologist Alexander Dugin, known as ‘Putin’s Brain’, died in a car explosion on Moscow’s outskirts, authorities said.

According to close friends, Alexander Dugin, or both together, might’ve been the target of the intended attack, however, Alexander chose to travel in another car at the last minute. Both Alexander and Daria were at a cultural festival near Moscow, where Alexander gave a speech. The attack happened near the village of Bolshiye Vyazemy, according to the Russian investigative committee.

Dugin, an ultranationalist ideologist is said to be a close ally of Russian president Vladimir Putin and a vehement supporter of sending Russian troops to Ukraine. He is also the prominent figure behind the ‘Russian world’ ideology.

29-year-old Daria too has been outspoken in her father’s viewpoints. She’s been at the forefront of the confrontation with the West and was sanctioned for adding to the online disinformation regarding the Russian invasion.

Investigative reports have said that the bomb had supposedly been installed in their Toyota Land Cruiser. The car went off at full speed on the highway before catching fire. The female driver, identified as political analyst Daria Dugin died on the spot.

Investigators have opened a homicide case and would carry out forensic analysis to determine what exactly happened. Although no one has been officially connected to the crime, allegations on the Ukrainian government have been rampant in Russia.

In an unverified viral online video, father Alexander Dugin is seen to be in a state of shock and distress standing by the explosive remains on the crime scene.
