Killnet has claimed to have impacted Mixi the second most popular social network in Japan

Killnet which is a pro-Russian hacking group posted online that they have impacted Mixi which is the second most popular social networking website in Japan. A few days ago Killnet posted that now Japan is going to be under their new target list. The group also shared the list online.

They posted on the dark web a message that reads KillNet hackers are on the warpath against Japanese militarism. They disabled the country’s second most popular social network, Mixi. In terms of the number of users, it is second only to Facebook (banned in Russia), several tens of millions of people are registered there. They keep their own diaries, where they write about their love for tentacles and yaoi and comment on the diaries of others. Well, they no longer comment – they organized a digital wakizashi. All for the support of Ukraine and encroachment on the Kuriles. Before that, KillNet talked about the decommissioning of Japan’s e-government, their main tax portal and the national payment system JCB. cybersamurai has no goal, only path.

Upon accessing their website mixi.jp we get an error message stating 403 Forbidden. We even tried to use a VPN to access the website and it still shows the same error message. Here is the copy of the archived page of mixi.jp showing the error message.

We tried to contact Mixi.jp to get an official statement on the matter. We were directed to their Twitter handle for the statement. Upon reading their last tweets, they posted messages regarding the issue.

The first tweet reads (English Translation) Currently, there is a problem with SNS mixi, making it difficult to access. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.

The second tweet reads (English Translation) We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the SNS mixi service failure. You can access it sequentially, but it may not be displayed normally or the reflection may be delayed because it is under restoration. In that case, please wait for a while and check. Thank you very much for your support.

The Social Media platform didn’t reply to the specific question to confirm whether the hack is real or not.
