China records a database leak: Data of more than 240 million people who entered and exited China mainland is on sale

China records a database leak. An unknown hacker has surfaced offering data on 240 million Chinese border exit/entry records from July 2020 to 2022 for sale for $100,000 USD.

The data is leaked from the Border entry and exit management bureau of China, This bureau is responsible to keep records of the people who entered and exited the China mainland. Now the data of more than 240 million people are on sale. The hacker mentioned that the leaked may not contain information about diplomatic visits and the data may also be incomplete but the total amount of data is 240 million+.

We are not yet aware whether the government has taken any actions or not regarding the hack. But immediate action is needed because the data leaked is huge and also open for sale which can be taken as an advantage by anyone say a country’s rival.
