BMW ready to invest in Punjab by building a Manufacturing unit
The auto giant BMW agreed to locate its car part manufacturing facility in the state on Tuesday, demonstrating the success of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s efforts to attract significant investments from Germany.
During the Chief Minister’s visit to the local BMW headquarters, a decision was made to that effect.
Following Mann’s presentation of the Punjab government’s efforts to support the industry during the visit, BMW decided to establish its auto component unit in the region.
Mann expressed his happiness over it, stating that this will be the second unit of the company in India since a similar unit was previously running in Chennai.
He said that this will significantly accelerate the state’s industrial growth and bring up new employment opportunities for young people.
The Chief Minister also extended an invitation to BMW to work with the government on e-mobility projects.
He was informed that the auto giant places a lot of emphasis on e-mobility and plans to have 50% of its global sales be fully electric vehicles by 2030, led by Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.
