The Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki’s widely awaited mid-size SUV, has been making ripples among auto aficionados even before its official presentation. Since pre-booking started on July 11, the SUV has had more than 50,000 bookings, according to reports. The car is slated to go on sale this month.
The Grand Vitara, which will also be the first automobile to make use of Toyota’s self-charging hybrid technology, is the first cross-badged variation of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. In 2018, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki reached an agreement to swap technologies and models for the Indian market in addition to other markets.
There are different variants for this car with different features which are mentioned below.
Sigma
The 2017 Grand Vitara’s base model will come equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, LED DRLs, halogen projector lights, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a telescopic steering wheel, and other features. A 5-speed manual transmission and a 1.5-liter mild hybrid engine will be available on the base model.
Delta
The Delta version will provide the same engine choice as the Sigma version, plus an automated transmission option. Cruise control, back USB connections, Alexa and Google help, and a reverse parking camera are further amenities.
Zeta
This variation offers the different engine and transmission options, just like the Delta variant. A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lights on the doors, soft-touch inserts on the dashboard and door panels, and side curtain airbags are further amenities.
Zeta+
A 1.5-liter powerful hybrid engine and an e-CVT gearbox are included with the Zeta+ model. It has ambient dashboard lighting, a HUD, wireless phone charging, dual-color paint, all-black interiors, and gold embellishments.
Alpha
The Alpha trim has both a manual and automatic transmission in addition to a mild hybrid powertrain. There is an all-wheel drive setting for the manual transmission. Hill descent control, leatherette steering wheel, seats drive selecting mode, and a 360-degree camera are additional amenities.
Alpha+
The top-tier model, the Alpha+, has an e-CVT transmission and a potent hybrid engine. Puddle lighting ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof is all added features. The Zeta+ model shares the same other features.
Powertrain
The 1.5-liter TNGA Atkinson cycle engine from Toyota will be combined with an electric motor in the Grand Vitara hybrid models. The engine alone generates 92 horsepower and a maximum torque of 122 Nm. A 177.6V lithium-ion battery powers the hybrid system, which can generate 79 horsepower. The projected overall power output in hybrid mode is 115 horsepower with a peak torque of 141 Nm.
The Grand Vitara’s hybrid engine is said to have the best fuel economy in its class, returning about 27.97 km/l. Depending on the specification, the 2019 Maruti Grand Vitara might cost anywhere between Rs 9.5 Lakh and Rs 18 Lakh.
