Huawei Mate Xs 2 comes with new emergency option Beidou satellite support ; check out now

Huawei is working on bringing two-way communication over satellite via SMS and voice calls in the future though.

On October 31, Huawei stated that the Mate Xs 2 folding smartphone, which was released in April, will enable Beidou satellite communications. When fully completed, the model will be the world’s first foldable smartphone to enable this useful feature. The company has promised to provide all specifics during a developer conference on November 5.

According to IDC statistics, Huawei maintained its lead in China’s foldable smartphone market in the third quarter of 2022, with a 44.9% share. Prior to this, Huawei’s Mate XS 2 was the first smartphone to enable triple-band Wi-Fi. Furthermore, the Huawei Mate Xs 2 supports four concurrent networks: cellular, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, 5GHz low-frequency Wi-Fi, and 5GHz high-frequency Wi-Fi, allowing for quick downloads.

Aside from emergency communication features, the Huawei Mate XS 2 provides a dependable everyday experience and a mature ecosystem. The Mate XS 2 offers three new design features thanks to hardware innovation: it is ultra-thin, ultra-flat, and ultra-reliable. After film pasting, the net weight of the entire gadget is around 250 grams, which is even lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The device’s twin rotor hinge mechanism and strengthened screen result in an almost imperceptible wrinkle and increased resistance.

The Beidou Navigation Satellite System’s third generation provides full worldwide coverage for time and navigation, providing an alternative to Russia’s GLONASS, Europe’s Galileo positioning system, and the United States’ GPS. Its most distinguishing feature is short-message communication. If the phone owner meets an emergency without a signal, they can use the Beidou terminal to send a text message to the crisis centre.

The recently introduced Huawei Mate 50 series is the world’s first smartphone series to enable Beidou satellite connectivity. When a user is in the desert or other emergency situations when network signal coverage is limited, the Huawei Mate 50 series may communicate text and position information, maintain in touch with the outside world, and generate trajectory maps.
