2023 Toyota Vitz – a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Celerio showcased in South Africa

The new Toyota Vitz  was showcased at Toyota’s State of the Motor Industry event in held in Johannesburg on January 26 , 2023. It is basically a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Celerio therefore the car looks quite familiar also.

The Toyota Vitz  is expected to launch in second quarter of 2023 in the international market. The Vitz  is however expected to be cheaper than the Toyota Agya. Though the price range is still not revealed by the company .

Expected specifications of Toyota Vitz

Since Toyota Vitz is a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Celerio , it is expected to be equipped with a 1.0 L NA 3-cylinder petrol engine making 66 bhp at 5500 RPM and 89 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM . Engines which are used in Celerio 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT are expected to be offered with Toyota Vitz too. Vitz might get the same bulbous headlamps adjoined by a chrome stripe along with 15 inch gloss black alloy wheels and squarish tail lamps .

These specifications are just the assumptions based on Maruti Suzuki Celerio model as there are no changes in Toyota Vitz except the logo and hence the specifications may differ .

Toyota Vitz is expected to be the brand’s entery level hatchback in South Afruca and will join other Suzuki-Toyota models like Toyota Rumion and Toyota Starlet. This badge exchange program between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota carries on in both Indian market as well as in South Africa.
