2025 Kia EV6 Unveiled: Redesigned EV Promises More Range, and Enhanced Tech
Kia has revealed the refreshed 2025 EV6 at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, showcasing significant updates to its award-winning electric crossover. The new model, which will be assembled at Kia’s West Point, Georgia plant alongside the EV9, features updated styling, increased battery capacity, and enhanced technology features.
The 2025 EV6 introduces a larger standard 63.0 kWh battery pack, with an available 84.0 kWh option targeting an impressive 319-mile range in Light LR, Wind, and GT-Line trims with rear-wheel drive configuration. The performance-focused GT model receives a power boost, now producing 641 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque in GT mode, up from the previous 576 hp.
Design updates incorporate Kia’s “Opposites United” design language, featuring new Star Map lighting elements in both front and rear. The exterior receives subtle yet impactful changes, including sharper angles on the front bumper, revised character lines, and new wheel designs ranging from 19 to 21 inches. The vehicle’s length has been increased by 0.6 inches for improved aesthetics and sportiness.
Inside, the EV6 adopts a horizontal design theme with a standard curved dual 12.3-inch display. New features include a D-shaped steering wheel and an updated center console inspired by the EV9. The charging port has been relocated to the left rear fender and now supports the North American Charging Standard, excluding GT models.
Technology upgrades include Kia’s next-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system with over-the-air update capability, Digital Key 2.0 with ultrawideband technology, and enhanced parking assistance features. The vehicle also introduces the Kia Connect Store, offering digital features such as video streaming, gaming, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
The 2025 EV6 will be available in five trim levels: Light (RWD only), Light Long Range (RWD or e-AWD), Wind (RWD or e-AWD), GT-Line (RWD or e-AWD), and GT (e-AWD). Sales are expected to begin in the first half of next year.
Steven Center, COO and EVP of Kia America, expressed pride in the EV6’s success, stating, “The EV6 represents Kia’s forward-thinking approach to electrification, and with this refreshed model, we are excited to build on that success by offering even more style, technology, and features that our customers will love.”
The updated model also enhances its utility with an improved towing rating of 2,700 pounds for long-range models, featuring automatic trailer weight detection for accurate range estimation. Additional improvements include better sound insulation, reinforced frame construction to meet stricter IIHS safety standards, and enhanced steering response with a new belt-type steering column.
