Alpine not to wait longer for car switch, significantly up with F1 car development
Alpine looks set to deliver a big step forward with its 2023 car, as the team reveals that it is “significantly up” compared to its current formula 1 challenger.
The Enstone-based team had the fourth fastest car for much of the 2022 campaign and are favorites to secure the top spot in the constructor’s championship behind Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes.
One of the key elements of its season has been an aggressive update program – which helped it push even close to the front of the field.
Sporting director Alan Permane has revealed that early indications point to next year’s car delivering some good gains, which has set up the prospect of it being able to close in on teams ahead.
“They’re already signed up with next year’s car” – Permane.
He said this statement when asked about progress heading into 2023. He added – “We’ve had a couple of moments of unreliability, but that factored into our run this year”.
“There was a massive change on the power unit and a massive change on the gearbox. We knew there were going to be a few issues, but I think we all signed up for that – Permane.
The ongoing promise that development it is showing with its current car is mirrored with work on its 2023 car, which is currently ongoing in its wind tunnel and CFD facilities.
