Yes, it is definitely a piece of good news for all the auto enthusiasts who were actually looking for a brand-new SUV from Renault. After Duster was launched in India, it was actually well received by Indian SUV lovers, however, the brand didn’t introduce any new SUVs into the Indian market. And almost after 11 years, hopefully, Renault is actually going to make its comeback in the Indian SUV market.

How the company arrived at the name of this SUV?

Renault’s strong historical association with aviation-inspired the name of its renowned aircraft, the Rafale. In the early 20th century, Renault established itself as an innovative manufacturer of combustion engines for automobiles, trains, and aircraft. The company’s involvement in the aviation industry took a significant step forward in 1933 when Renault acquired Caudron, a prominent aircraft manufacturer, leading to the formation of Caudron-Renault. A fascinating tradition emerged during this time as each aircraft produced by the company was named after a notable wind.

One of their notable creations, the C460, a remarkable single-seater racing plane designed to break records, was given the name “Rafale” in 1934. This renaming reflected the company’s commitment to excellence and its aspiration to conquer the skies. The choice of “Rafale” showcased Renault’s passion for aviation and symbolized the speed, power, and grace of this extraordinary aircraft. Through its remarkable history in both the automotive and aviation industries, Renault’s legacy continues to inspire innovation and engineering excellence.

What to expect?

The addition of the Rafale to Renault’s product lineup marks a significant milestone for the brand. This exceptional vehicle is equipped with state-of-the-art E-Tech hybrid engines and is built on the advanced CMF-CD platform. With the introduction of the Rafale, Renault completes its range of vehicles in the D segment, further strengthening its market presence
