Honda Activa Electric Scooter Set for 27 November Unveiling
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has officially announced the unveiling of its first electric scooter, the Honda Activa Electric, scheduled for 27 November. Invites for the event carry the tagline “Watts Ahead,” indicating that Honda is prepared to bring its popular Activa model into the electric vehicle (EV) segment.
Practical Design and Familiar Platform
The Honda Activa Electric has been under development for some time. To control development costs and speed up the production timeline, Honda is reportedly using its existing internal combustion engine (ICE) platform as a base for the electric model.
Expected Performance and Range
The Activa Electric is expected to deliver performance on par with the Activa 110, suitable for city commutes. Reports suggest it may offer a range of around 100 km on a single charge, which should meet typical urban riding needs. While the scooter is expected to have a fixed battery setup, there may also be a possibility of removable batteries to support more flexible charging options.
Key Features and Design Elements
Honda’s design approach for the Activa Electric aims to optimize space for battery and motor integration, likely making use of a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The braking system is expected to include a front disc brake and a rear drum brake.
Honda’s Entry into the Electric Market
The launch of the Activa Electric represents Honda’s entry into India’s growing electric scooter market. The unveiling on 27 November will reveal further specifications, along with details on pricing and availability.
