Honda Revels The New CR-V For UK
Honda has just revealed the new CR-V with two hybrid options and larger dimensions. The new Honda CR-V in the coming months will go on sale in the UK.
The Honda CR-V was revealed in Europe alongside the new Honda e: Ny1 EV and the Honda ZR-V Hybrid. The CR-V was revealed last year in the US. The CR-V was the first model in Honda’s line-up to ditch pure-ICE power and its successor follows the same path in Europe.
The Honda CR-V will be available as either a PHEV (Plugged-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) or with a familiar e: HEV full-hybrid powertrain. Both these types are based around a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with claimed efficiency, performance, and regiment improvements.
The PHEV offers an electric range of 51 miles and can be charged fully in 2.5 hours on an 11kW charger. The full-hybrid option has a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine that is teamed with a pair of electric motors for a combined 204bhp and 247 lb-ft and a top speed of 115mph.
The Linear Shift Control function will abate the often-criticized soundtrack of the CVT by altering engine revs like a conventional automatic. The body of the CR-V is said to be 15% stiffer and the suspension and steering have been tuned for better handling and responsiveness.
Honda has said that the inspiration for the CR-V came from the US-market Ridgeline pick-up truck and Passport SUV, highlighting a beltline that emphasizes a 69mm increase in length, a 41mm extension to the wheelbase and a 10mm increase to its width.
In the interior, a 7-inch digital dial display with an optional smartphone mirroring function, a wide center console with USB-A and USB-C chargers, and a minimalist dashboard decorated by a honeycomb-effect wraparound air vent.
