As mentioned, with respect to its exterior, more or less, a similar design has been retained when compared to the previous IONIQ 5, but the IONIQ 9 is a little more rounder in look. Also to note, it is much more larger and features at least some of the dot-matrix lights that we saw in the earlier IONIQ 5. Dimension-wise, it is 5060 mm long, 1980 mm wide, and 1790 mm high.
Speaking of the performance, the IONIQ 9 comes with a larger 110.3kWh battery with a range of up to 335 miles. This is for the Long Range RWD model with 19″ wheels, while the 20″ and 21″ wheel variants may have lower ranges. The Long-Range RWD model will offer 160kW/215hp power, whereas the AWD model will bring an additional 70kW/94hp power on the front. The Performance AWD has 160kW motors each on the front and rear. About the acceleration, the Long Range RWD, AWD, and Performance AWD models reach 0 to 100 km (0 – 62 miles) in 9.4 seconds, 6.7 seconds, and 5.2 seconds respectively.
The IONIQ 9 also equips itself with the E-GMP platform, thereby capable of offering impressive DC charging performance. With the right charger, users will be able to charge from 0% to 80% in just 24 minutes as per what the company claims. A NACS port will also be present.
Now coming to the interior, the first thing to say is that it is very spacious. A good amount of storage space is also offered in the trunk, frunk, and center console. Adjusting the seats, much more room can be made to fit in more luggage.
Apart from the storage space, another important interior feature is the swiveling middle row seats (probably in six-seat models only). Both the front row and middle row seats are also reclinable and have leg rests. The company calls this its ‘Relaxation Seats’.
Regarding its availability, it has been revealed that Hyundai’s IONIQ 9 will arrive in US and Korean markets next year in mid 2025, following which, it will also be made available in Europe and other global markets. Depending on markets, the models and variants may also vary, and with its official launch in the respective markets, the price and other specs will be revealed.
Moreover, today on the 21st of November 2024, at 9:10 AM PT (10:40 PM IST), the brand will be revealing more about its IONIQ 9 at the LA Auto Show, where the official debut will take place.
