Kia Reveals its EV5 Concept: To Arrive in the Chinese Market First

Kia after introducing the EV9 has now revealed the concept of its next electric vehicle, EV5 which the company is calling “Kia Concept EV5” at the moment. The car shares similarities with the new EV9, but is different in its own way and is going to be launched to sit below the latest EV9.

Here’s more about the concept design.

Kia EV5 Concept

As mentioned above, more or less the EV5 concept design retains the boxy design of the EV9 with a few similar design specs. The concept has the same front-end design but has a different triangular-shaped headlight with a futuristic flowing pattern. At the bottom end, unlike the EV9, the concept EV5 has a larger lower air intake. Coming to its rear, the EV5 concept has two C-shaped rear lights on both sides, extending almost to the center. A rear spoiler can also be spotted on the top.

Regarding its side profile, the EV5 concept almost looks similar to that of the EV9 and features rear-hinged back doors without a B-pillar. It is not sure if the rear-hinged back doors will make it to the full version of the car that is to make its way to production. The black-silver alloy wheels also add a sporty and futuristic touch to the concept design.

Inside the cabin, the EV5 concept has a minimalistic design with a large rectangular display screen, a rectangular steering wheel, bench seats, and a well-designed dashboard. The EV5 concept also has a lot of space in its interior and the swivel seats add another layer of comfort and functionality. Inside the boot, the concept also has a table and bench which folds out from the floor.

The company hasn’t really announced anything about its performance and its powertrains, however, we can expect it to share similar powertrains with the EV6 and may arrive equipped with a 77KWh battery, offering a power ranging between 226hp and 321hp and distance range of upto 482km.

Once the full version of the Kia EV5 is launched, the car will be going for sale first in China, following which the launch might take place in other markets.
