Location tracking device and panic buttons in public and private transport vehicle will be mandatory in Karnataka

The Karnataka cabinet has taken a very bold and unique decision for the public and private transport vehicles in Karnataka. This decision says that it’s mandatory to have location tracking devices and panic buttons to ensure the safety of passengers, especially women and children. During the briefing, the cabinet minister said to media reporters that 6.8 lakh vehicles will come under the hood of the project.

This project would be supported by the central government and state government together. As far as the expense is concerned Central is to take 60% of expense responsibility whereas the state would take the rest. One of the additional pros of this is that the government would be able to track over speeders and tax evaders. If the tracking location device would be in your car the chances of theft would also be down.

We are to see extensive work in this in Karnataka as it would be tedious for the government to set up a large number of tracking devices and alarm systems in public and private vehicles. But before ruling it out people’s suggestions are welcomed. We would like to know from you what you think about it.
