Maruti Jimny 5: Here is the complete information

Finally! Maruti Jimny 5 Prototype has hit the Indian roads for testing. It is a heavily right–hand drive test mule with 5 – a door layout. The news broke in 2020 that the Jimny will be launched in India only in the 5-door avatar soon. It is expected that its make debut at the upcoming 2023 Auto Expo in January.

Engine and power

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door SUV will be powered by a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine will generate a maximum power of 103 bhp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 138 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Transmission options for this SUV can be found in a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox. This engine is also currently used in cars like Brezza, Ciaz, S-Cross, Ertiga, and XL6. Maruti’s Smart Hybrid fuel-saving technology could also be given in the Jimny off-roader SUV.

How much will you get mileage?

The Jimny will get a mileage of 13.6 kmpl. Due to the ladder frame, the engine position will be changed in it, which will power its rear wheels. It is speculated that the new Mahindra Thar could be offered with a standard 4×4 system like the SUV that was launched recently. However, with the 1.5-liter petrol engine, the 5-door Jimny will not be able to fall into the sub-4-meter category and will attract higher excise duty.

Size and weight

The ‘Made in India’ 5-door Jimny is being manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Manesar, Haryana. Its length is 3,850 mm, width is 1,645 mm and height is 1,730 mm. The wheelbase of this SUV is 2,550 mm and the ground clearance is 210 mm. The Jimny will get 15-inch wheels with 195/80 tires. This SUV is capable of lifting a load of up to 1,190 kg.

More luggage space

Separate luggage space will be given in the Jimny 5-door version to be launched in India. According to the report, vehicles with 3-door versions are not much liked in India. He says that most Indians do not consider them practical. This is the reason why there is not much demand for the 3-door version of the vehicles in the Indian market. Hence the 5-door version will be launched in India.
