The company’s exports in the same month climbed by 26.40% to 1,32,632 units, from the 1,04,927 units sold during the same period a year earlier. Maruti Suzuki sold 9,85,326 vehicles, a 34.39 percent increase over the previous year’s total of 7,33,155 units (domestic + OEM + exports).
4,25,396 units were sold in total during the third quarter of 2022, an increase of 1,25,366 units over the 3,00,030 units sold during the third quarter of 2021. Maruti Suzuki had a growth of 41.78% in the interim. In contrast to Q2 2022, however, quarterly gains are modest. Maruti Suzuki’s growth is anticipated to be 15.24% MoM with 56,242 more units sold in Q3 2022 compared to 3,69,154 units sold in Q2 2022.
The low base that the semiconductor chip crisis from the previous year produced may be primarily responsible for the significant increase in passenger car sales. Sales of the company’s Super Carry light commercial vehicle dropped from 3,304 to 2,505 units sold, a 24.18% decrease from the same month last year. On the other hand, Maruti sold 21,403 units as opposed to 17,565 units in exports, an increase of 21.85% from the same month the previous year.
In addition, the company said that compared to the prior year, the number of units it gave to Toyota jumped by 67.41%, from 2400 units to 4,018 units. A total of 1,76,306 units, up from 86,380 units a year earlier, represents a 104.10 percent growth in the company’s entire sales (domestic + OEM + exports).
Other car manufacturers’ sales figures
In other car sales news, September 2022 was one of the industry’s best months in recent memory. The industry has increased by 26% from August 2022, when it sold a total of 281,210 units, to establish a new monthly milestone of 355,946 units. The greatest wholesale volume for September 2022, at 341,370 units, is 4% higher than the previous highs for July 2022, at 334,411 units, and in October 2020 and March 2021, respectively. Sales-wise, the record number for September 2022 represents an increase of 121% over the 160,070 units sold in September 2021 and a 30% increase over the 272,027 units sold in September 2020.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd. reported total sales of 63,201 units in September 2022, a growth of 38% overall and making it the second-largest automaker in the nation behind Maruti Suzuki. In the domestic market, 49,700 units were sold in total during the month, a 50.2% rise from the same time last year. The company sold 49,510 devices in the country last month, but domestic sales remained almost flat from one month to the next.
