New Citroen C3 doing wonders in the market, to compete with Creta and the upcoming Vitara
Citroen may have had a slow start with the C5 Aircross SUV, but the C3 hatchback, its first volume-oriented product, appears to have found traction. The Citroen C3 hatchback, with its attractive pricing, takes on the French carmaker’s plan to make it big in the Indian car market. The next product with which Citroen will advance the game is expected to be a new midsize SUV, with testing already underway in India.
The new Citroen midsize SUV expected to arrive in India could be the global replacement for the C3 Aircross, whose current iteration is nearing the end of its life cycle. Citroen may use the existing platform of the C3 hatchback, but in a modified form with a longer wheelbase and a few other changes to keep costs low.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross will compete for head-on with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The SUV is currently codenamed CC24 and is in the early stages of development.
The new Citroen C3 Aircross midsize SUV will be a more premium offering, boasting a slew of premium comfort, convenience, and safety features. Given that the current crop of midsize SUVs is already upping the ante in terms of features, it will be interesting to see what all features will be available in Citroen’s new upcoming midsize SUV.
Citroen will launch two more SUVs in 2023 as part of the C-Cubed project for India, which will also include an all-new electric vehicle. This next-generation EV will be either an all-electric C3 hatchback or the upcoming C3 Aircross. Citroen’s new offerings, like its current offerings, will be locally assembled in the French automaker’s Tamil Nadu production facility.
