On September 21, Volvo will introduce the upgraded XC40 ICE SUV
On September 21, the face-lifted Volvo XC40 with ICE power will debut in India. Along with a new mild-hybrid petrol powertrain that is rumored to be 15% more fuel efficient than before, it receives a number of minor modifications from top to bottom.
With the introduction of its all-electric brother, the XC40 Recharge, we’ve already witnessed a precursor to the XC40’s design revisions. Its new exteriors may only need a “facelift,” and amateur eyes might not even notice the improvements.
However, the XC40 has undergone significant modifications, including new wheels, reworked bumpers, and revamped pixel headlights with 84 LEDs. New fog light surrounds are on the front bumper, and the lower trim piece on the rear bumper has been revised.
A larger range of paint options, including new Fjord Blue, Sage Green, Thunder Grey, and Bright Dusk tones, will also be available for the 2019 XC40.
The upgraded SUV’s interior receives a new shift lever, raising its level of elegance. The interior of the SUV is unchanged, but for the new wood trim on the dashboard. It’s already impeccably outfitted with a portrait-style touchscreen driven by an Android OS, panoramic sunroof, PM 2.5 cabin air filtering system, and a 13-speaker Dirac sound system.
The 2-liter turbo petrol engine in the XC40 is likely to remain the same, but it will now be mated to a 48-volt mild hybrid system and a 13PS/40Nm e-motor. It is claimed that the new powertrain would provide higher fuel economy than the previous one, up to 15kmpl, and is capable of producing 197PS and 300Nm combined.
The mild-hybrid Volvo XC40 will probably cost more than its ICE-only predecessor, which starts at around Rs 44.5 lakh (ex-showroom). In India, it competes with the BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, and Audi Q3.
