Skoda Auto to enter the compact SUV market segment in India, likely to announce upcoming compact SUV on February 27, 2024
In the latest developments in the car market, Skoda Auto will allegedly announce its entry into the compact SUV segment in India on February 27, 2024. According to reports, the new project is labeled as ‘India 2.5’. Skoda Auto has already collected an appreciative volume in India with their Kushaq and Slavia. These two vehicles are part of the Volkswagen Group’s indigenous ‘India 2.0’ project.
Reports assert that the global management of Skoda will visit India later this month. They will announce the company’s plan and strategy for market expansion in India during their India visit.
India 2.5 compact SUV project by Skoda will be Skoda’s first sub-4 meter model after the Fabia. Fabia was discontinued in the year 2013.
Reports are of the view that the Skoda compact SUV will seemingly come in as a shortened sibling of the Kushaq. Moreover, it is based on the same MQB-A0 (IN) platform that is used in the Slavia, the Taigun, and Virtus.
Skoda will carry on the India 2.5 compact SUV project solo, without Volkswagen.
The compact SUV by Skoda is being aimed to be brought into showrooms by March 2024.
The compact SUV by Skoda will be able to avail of the lower 28 percent GST slab. This tax benefit is applicable to small cars that are under 4 metres and are equipped with petrol engines less than 1.2 litres.
