Tesla finally resumes production at the Shanghai Factory – Chinese Media

According to Chinese media, Tesla Inc, an American electric vehicle and clean energy business, resumed production at its Shanghai factory on Tuesday, amid mounting concerns about China’s economic development threats as a result of the COVID-19 lockout.

According to Xinhua News Agency, some 8,000 employees have returned to work in Tesla’s factory in the United States thus far.

The Shanghai Gigafactory had been shut down for nearly 20 days due to the current COVID-19 outbreak in Shanghai.

“We have full confidence in China’s economy,” said Tao Lin, vice president of Tesla, as per Xinhua News Agency, adding that “from the process of the current production resumption, we have seen China’s ability to cope with challenges and we believe that normality will soon return.”

Several government departments, according to Tao, have been working virtually nonstop to assist businesses in resuming work and output as soon as feasible.

According to Xinhua, the factory’s manufacturing and operation director, Song Gang, it will take three to four days to gradually increase output to full capacity.
