The All-New Maruti Suzuki MPV Is Being Jointly Developed With Toyota

The new MPV from Maruti is being jointly developed with Toyota. This MPV will be a sister product to the popular Innova Hycross.

The Innova Hycross is a third-generation vehicle of the Toyota Innova. The Toyota Innova is a series of MPVs manufactured by Toyota since 2004. The Innova Hycross is the name of the vehicle launched in India on November 2, 2022. The same model was released in another market with different names.

The new MPV from Maruti will get styling elements that will differ from the Innova Hycross. This new MPV from Maruti is expected to go on sale by late July this year based on some rumours.

As we delve into further rumours, the leaked design of the upcoming MPV reveals a new grille with a honeycomb mesh pattern outlined by chrome trim. These two horizontal chrome bars run right through the centre of the grille and join the headlamps at either end.

The front side will feature changes like tweaking in the front bumper and the presence of a prominent lip with a faux brushed aluminium finish. These features might remind you of the Suzuki Grand Vitara, which is a subcompact crossover SUV developed by Suzuki and produced by Toyota in India in 2022.

A minor change is going to happen to the rear bumper as well. The headlamps and the tail lamps are not expected to undergo any change. The internals and the graphics are definitely going to have some sort of differences.

This new MPV is going to be the first rebadged Toyota for Maruti. Since the Toyota-Suzuki alliance in 2017, the vehicles that Suzuki produced, like the Vitara Brezza compact SUV and Baleno, are cross-badged and sold as the Toyota Urban Cruiser and the Glanza, respectively, in India.

The latest-gen Baleno, Ciaz, Ertiga and Celerio are sold as Toyotas in the South African and Middle East markets. Now the upcoming MPV will be the first Toyota vehicle that will be rebadged for Maruti Suzuki.
