YouTube to be integrated in selected models of Audi’s infotainment system for the first time ever

Do you also get bored while sitting in your car waiting in long traffic, at gas stations or charging stops? Audi has now arrived with an amazing solution for its consumers as for the first time ever Audi has announced the integration of YouTube into its selected models’ infotainment systems without the need for a smartphone.

This integration has been made possible through the introduction of a new app store, allowing customers to seamlessly access popular third-party apps via the Multimedia Interface (MMI) using a data link within the vehicle- a permanently integrated SIM card.

According to a press release shared by Audi, Video streaming will launch in selected Audi models in the summer of 2023, with other VW brands to follow. YouTube app is installed directly in Audi’s MMI system without taking a detour via a smartphone. The access has been made possible by embedding a new app store which Audi developed with Volkswagen’s software company CARIAD and its partner HARMAN Ignite. YouTube is now the first video platform to be available for download via Audi’s new native store for apps.

To ensure the safety of passengers, Audi has made sure that video streaming is only possible when the vehicle is parked. For instance, you can stream videos during charging stops, driving breaks, or when you need to wait for someone. Live streams, news, and videos from popular YouTubers can now allow everyone in the car to enjoy their journey while being entertained.

Not only this if you are a YouTube Premium member you will be able to log in and watch ad-free content while being in your vehicle. As per the company, YouTube will be made available starting with the 2024 model year in selected models that are equipped with the latest hardware and software cluster of the third-generation modular infotainment system. Some of the Audi models that will be equipped with the YouTube app are- Audi A4/A5, A6/A7, Q8 e-tron, and Audi e-tron GT Quattro.

From the launch date, these models will be optionally equipped with the store ex-factory throughout the European market, Canada, and the United States. As mentioned in the press release the system will be later rolled out to other regions.
