The government has planned to hand over ‘Air India’ back to the Tata Group today(January 27, 2022), around 69 years after it was taken from the conglomerate, officials said on Wednesday(January 26). Natarajan Chandrasekaran Chairman of Tata Sons has already reached Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the return of Air India.
What changes will Tata Group bring to Air India?
There will be changes from advisories to frontline staff who are the actual interface to passengers of the flight, as per reports. Changes are there to ultimately improve On-Time Performance(OTP), with flight doors to be closed 10 minutes before the departure timings. This wasn’t there when Air India was public. Air India OTP is the lowest among other big airlines currently, which needs improvement.
Inflight announcements will be addressed with a special message from group chairman Shri Ratan Tata.
“Enhanced meal Service” to be rolled out in flights from today(Thursday) in a gradual manner. This change “Enhanced meal Service” will be served in 5 flights from Mumbai-Delhi on Friday, as per sources.
Air India crew members have to smartly dress as per regulations, they will assist by grooming associates.
There will be changes made for fleet and cabin up-gradation.
With Rs 18,000 crore deal, Tata group is giving Rs 2700 crore upfront (advance) and taking over Rs. 15,300 crore as debt- as per sources reported.
