Amazon bets on ‘return to the office’ as other tech giants go virtual
Expanding its physical offices in six US cities and adding thousands of corporate jobs, tech giant Amazon is undoubtedly formulating long-term plans around office work even as other major technology companies opine ‘work from home’ is likely to be the new normal in the post-COVID era.
“The ability to connect with people, the ability for teams to work together in an ad hoc fashion—you can do it virtually, but it isn’t as spontaneous,” said Ardine Williams, Vice President of workforce development at Amazon, adding the company is looking forward to returning to the office.

In fact, from training new workers to lengthier timelines, corporate executives have come to see some of the downsides of remote work as well.
