Apple iPhone 16 lineup now available in Indonesian market as the company obtains sales license for the series with $300 investment

Apple unveiled its iPhone 16 series last year globally, and recently, the iPhone 16e device was also introduced under this series. Amidst its global availability, the iPhone 16 series faced a sales and use ban in the Indonesian market.
Indonesia requires foreign companies to provide 40% local content to operate locally as part of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification. Companies can fulfill this mandate by either manufacturing products locally, developing software locally, or setting up R&D centers.
Reportedly, Apple previously invested US$ 109 million in Indonesia to build a developer academy and pledged to invest US$ 10 million in the manufacturing industry. But the Indonesian government believed that Apple had only completed US$ 95 million in the developer academy and had failed to fulfill its promise, resulting in the ban on sales and use of the iPhone 16 lineup.
Apple’s senior vice president of global marketing, Greg Joswiak, today announced that the iPhone 16 lineup is now available in the Indonesian market.
So excited that our customers in Indonesia can now experience the iPhone 16 lineup—available today!

Apple has now revealed that it has drastically adjusted its investment plan. Initially, the company proposed to increase its manufacturing investment from $10 million to $100 million, but the government expected an investment of $1 billion. Apple has now promised a total investment of $300 million and obtained the sales license for the iPhone 16 series in Indonesia.
