DCI is constructing a new AU$400 million data centre in Sydney
DCI Data Centers has announced its intention to construct a third data center in Australia, with a new 36MW facility situated in East Creek, 35 kilometers west of the Sydney CBD.
The organization announced on Monday that it had obtained planning consent from the Blacktown City Council, with the facility situated next to its first data center in Sydney, expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The AU$400 million facilities, called SYD02, is being marketed by DCI as a purpose-built project primarily developed for hyperscale cloud providers, content providers, and managed service providers. It hopes that the plant would set industry standards for water and energy quality.
DCI CEO Malcolm Roe said the team is pleased to have received this clearance, which will be a crucial part of their three-stage plan for this key location.
SYD01 has 11MW of power installed, while DCI’s Adelaide facility currently rents 1,2MW of power. The business is actively working on the construction of an extension of 6.75MW for the Kidman Park campus.
DCI is a wholly-owned Brookfield Asset Management portfolio firm.
